Even the historic marker mounted by the front entrance makes this claim. However, this is not exactly true. Professor Bailey provided the general design concepts for the laboratory, and then a professional architect\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/kevinforsyth.net\/ELMAC\/architects\/\">William P. Appleyard<\/a>\u2014incorporated those elements into a solidly engineered building. Appleyard was also the architect of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kevinforsyth.net\/ELMAC\/library-museum\/\">Library\u2013Museum<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kevinforsyth.net\/ELMAC\/faculty-row\/\">Faculty Row<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kevinforsyth.net\/ELMAC\/faculty-9\/\">\u2116&nbsp;9<\/a>, along with several campus buildings that are no longer standing.<sup data-fn=\"30bb3b40-a1da-4d18-aa83-645efefb775e\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#30bb3b40-a1da-4d18-aa83-645efefb775e\" id=\"30bb3b40-a1da-4d18-aa83-645efefb775e-link\">1<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">After the new&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kevinforsyth.net\/ELMAC\/horticulture\/\">Horticulture building<\/a>, now known as \u201cOld Horticulture,\u201d was completed in 1925, this became the home of the Basic College, and later the Honors College. In 1961 it was renamed in memory of Harry J. Eustace (M.A.C.&nbsp;\u201901), Chair of the Horticulture Department 1908\u20131919.
