Map excerpted and tinted from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kevinforsyth.net\/ELMAC\/sources\/#N\">Newman<\/a>, 1915.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The land north and west of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kevinforsyth.net\/ELMAC\/college-heights\/\">College Heights<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kevinforsyth.net\/ELMAC\/oakwood\/\">Oakwood<\/a>&nbsp;was platted circa 1915 into \u201cBungalow Knolls\u201d by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kevinforsyth.net\/ELMAC\/newman\/\">Chace Newman<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kevinforsyth.net\/ELMAC\/giltner\/\">Ward Giltner<\/a>, and Elam T. Hallman, Associate Professor of Animal Pathology. Bungalow Knolls was created from the remainder of the ten acres that Chace and Emma Newman had purchased to create College Heights in 1904; the Giltner\u2013Hallman Addition was a portion of Oakwood\u2019s Lot 84.<sup><a href=\"#footnote_1_1468\" id=\"identifier_1_1468\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Bungalow Knolls and the Giltner&ndash;Hallman Addition were designed in conjunction with each other, as evidenced by the tiny lots of Bungalow Knolls that make up the front yards of the houses on the east side of Hillcrest Avenue (&ldquo;Hickory Court&rdquo; on Newman&rsquo;s map), south of Marshall Street. The houses themselves&mdash;but surprisingly, not the front porches of 518&ndash;526&ndash;532 Hillcrest&mdash;are on the matched lots of the Giltner&ndash;Hallman Addition.\">&dagger;<\/a><\/sup> <sup data-fn=\"53ce2dda-2fcb-4c12-a532-bd36a6da8277\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#53ce2dda-2fcb-4c12-a532-bd36a6da8277\" id=\"53ce2dda-2fcb-4c12-a532-bd36a6da8277-link\">1<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The plat&#8217;s Hickory Court connected to Oak Hill Avenue via a new right-of-way through College Heights&#8217; lots 8 and 9.
