Forsyth.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This house, the only surviving example of a dozen private residences which once stood on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kevinforsyth.net\/ELMAC\/delta\/\">College Delta<\/a>, might be more appropriately called the Bogue\u2013Landon\u2013May House. Its earliest known occupants were&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kevinforsyth.net\/ELMAC\/bogue\/\">Ernest Everett Bogue<\/a>&nbsp;(1864\u20131907, M.A.C.\u2019s first Professor of Forestry) and his wife Myra. The Bogues only resided here for a few years before moving in 1905 to \u201ca house near the river on what is now Bogue Street, which in those days was the edge of town.\u201d<sup data-fn=\"57af349d-4d47-4109-b2a3-76b37900da2d\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#57af349d-4d47-4109-b2a3-76b37900da2d\" id=\"57af349d-4d47-4109-b2a3-76b37900da2d-link\">1<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Following the Bogues, this was the home of Dr. Herbert W. Landon and his wife Abby Dorothy (Sterling). Dr. Landon, a Lansing physician, established an office in <a href=\"https:\/\/kevinforsyth.net\/ELMAC\/the-other-mrs-kedzie\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"2753\">Mrs. Kedzie&#8217;s rooming house<\/a> in April 1903, and shortly after was appointed by the College to be the only physician whose \u201ccertificate will be accepted by the military department to determine the capacity or incapacity of the men of the College to drill.\u201d The Landons moved to this house in 1905. During World War One, Dr. Landon was commissioned as a captain and served in an artillery regiment of the 85th Infantry Division. After the war the Landons settled in Monroe, Abby\u2019s hometown.<sup data-fn=\"aa36bf22-34ac-4b92-8294-44ddab86e698\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#aa36bf22-34ac-4b92-8294-44ddab86e698\" id=\"aa36bf22-34ac-4b92-8294-44ddab86e698-link\">2<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">By 1919, this house was owned by Ira and Wealtha May, retired farmers from Eaton County, who lived here with their four adult daughters. Their eldest Jessie was a clerk in the M.S.C. Athletic Department. Ira died in 1925 and Wealtha in 1931, but Jessie and her sister Nina continued to own and live in the house throughout their lives. Nina passed away at age eighty-three in 1976, when her house was one of just three remaining on <a href=\"https:\/\/kevinforsyth.net\/ELMAC\/delta\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"561\">College Delta<\/a>.
